Simply put, a value stream is the steps in a process, both value-added and non-value added, to turn raw materials or information into products or services. Once you understand how to apply the primary tools of Lean Thinking, learning the use of value streams and understanding value streams can be particularly helpful in lean manufacturing transformations. This is because thinking in value streams can help to combat waste as it appears in more traditional batch processing operations.
